What you can study

The subject is whatever the textbook is about.

Chapterlume does not keep a separate course for biology, history, or nursing. You bring that book's PDF, and the guide, quiz, and test are written from its chapters.

Textbook subjects

These are the kinds of books students upload. The chapter list still comes from the file, not from a fixed syllabus.

  • Science and math

Biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and math chapters become section notes, worked explanations, and a quiz on that chapter's terms.

  • History, English, and social studies

Guides follow the book's sections and the arguments it actually makes, then ask questions a student can answer from those pages.

  • Health and nursing

A nursing-assistant or health textbook can become procedure notes, short names such as CNA, and questions in the style of a certification check.

  • Skilled trades

Electrical, HVAC, welding, automotive, and similar programs get practical questions about tools, safety, and the steps in the chapter.

The same book, different readers

Pick the level when you create the guide. The chapter text stays the source.

  • Grade school

Grades 1 to 5. Short sentences and examples a child can picture.

  • Middle school

Grades 6 to 8. The book's terms, explained in plain language.

  • High school

Grades 9 to 12. Closer to the wording of the text.

  • College

Dense chapters, precise definitions, and written responses.

  • Trade school

    Procedures, codes, and certification-style questions.

Why there is not a separate course for each subject

A page titled "biology study guide" that was not written from your edition will miss the examples your test uses. Chapterlume reads the chapter you open and stays inside those pages.

Openly licensed books can be searched when you do not have a file yet. A copyrighted textbook stays yours: upload a copy you own, including screenshots of pages that are not text.
